- 1300年左右进入英语，直接源自古法语的regreter：re (强调） + greter (哀悼），意为很久之后；最初源自古日耳曼语的gretan，意为流泪，哭泣。
用法辨析
- regret的基本意思是“懊悔,惋惜,遗憾”,指对于已经发生或不愿发生但又不得不发生的事情在心里产生一种伤感或抱歉,但已经没有挽回的余地。引申还可指“抱歉”。
